A lifelong musician, Drake Henry was introduced to music by his father at a young age. Drake gravitated towards the saxophone in 4th grade and has been playing ever since. He participated in the jazz, symphonic, and marching band through the end of high school. Throughout his middle and high school music experience, Drake performed with numerous honor ensembles; most notably the All Virginia Honors Symphonic Band and All Virginia Honors Jazz Ensemble. Drake was also invited to and attended the VDOE Virginia Summer Residential Governor's School for Visual and Performing Arts, a month long residential summer program for high school arts students throughout Virginia. On top of the saxophone, Drake has picked up other instruments. He doubles on clarinet and flute, and he played auxiliary percussion and marimba for his high school's marching band.
Currently, Drake studies at SMU Meadows School of the Arts and SMU Dedman College of Humanities and Sciences. He is pursuing degrees in music (B.A.) and chemistry (B.S.) from their respective colleges. Drake now performs with the Meadows Wind Ensemble and Jazz Orchestra and studies with the Dallas Wind Symphony's principal saxophonist and soloist, Donald Fabian
